Free Drum Samples

MrTheBigMan has released a new free drum sample library, E|Drums 2.0, which features "drums, drums and more drums dedicated to all types of electronic music."

The library features 318 free drum samples altogether, divided between two different sound sets: foley (110 samples), and synthesised drum sounds (208 samples). You can download it from MrTheBigMan's site in different formats.

Free Battery Kits from DevineSound

"Two different sample packs made almost exclusively with the mighty Cwejman S1 synthesizer Kit one by Richard Devine, kit two by Josh Kay.

A strange collection of percussion one-shots, hits, pulses, and other unclassifiable noises. Feed your drum machine weird things!"

DevineSound has last week released two free Cwejman S1 Modular Battery Kits. The sample pack (256 samples, 38MB) is available as a free download from their website.

FIND SOUNDS - A free collection of sounds

Check this out.......

FindSounds.com is an online sound bank, offering a large selection of real sounds. You can begin by setting your minimum resolution, sample rate, and maximum file size requirements, and then browse through the collection directly or by using the search function.

Good for creative production! If you've got something like the QuickTime Pro plugin (or any other dodgy audio-ripping method) you can benefit from this eclectic collection.

Free Ableton Live Pack from ESKAMON

ill.Gates introduces a new free Ableton Live Pack: Fine Objects, created for Eskamon - a collaboration between Amon Tobin (Ninja Tune) and Eskmo (Warp, Planet Mu, Ancestor). Read on.....

"Fine Objects" is the result of the pair's unique take on sonic exploration and the manipulation of field recordings. From the onset, the two went out with a recorder, gathering sounds from around the house, yard and studio. Material recorded out of the studio included sounds from a parking garage elevator, a broken harp and the droning tones from a discarded piano. These were combined with more home-centric sounds to form the central theme to the song.

With lumbering alien bass and intentially dry, off-kilter percussion, "Objects" quickly grew into it's own symbolic representation of taking "odd pieces" and allowing them to grow into something a bit more "refined and ablaze."

As part of the release ESKAMON released a free WAV sample pack of the sounds created in the song (they want your email address first, then you can download for free). From these original WAVs, an Ableton Live pack was also created by ill.Gates for the project and give out for free with the release as well. This video is the tutorial ill.Gates shot to help explain the features he made on the Ableton side of the project.

Free plug in time again

This one's designed by Yellow Tools (who gave us Yellow Tools free recently), who've teamed up with Best Service....

Download the demo version of Titan here. You get a copy of the Yellow Tools Engine sample player, and a selection of the Titan samples. Very cool - similar to Yellow Tools free, with all the modulation control and effects.

Yellow Tools Independence Free Review

OK, at 15kbps, with frequent time-outs, after 3 days I've managed to get this thing downloaded, installed and working. The verdict? Awesome. Well worth the hassle....

This is a fully featured VST, RTAS, AU and stand-alone sampler, the only limitation is that Audio Import is limited to 25 samples.

Modulation control on this is very powerful, with Step Modulation, LFOs, Envelopes, Note On, Note Off assignment as just a few examples.

Then there's the Arpeggiator, which as well as the usual patterns, allows you to import your own from MIDI files.

Built-in effects include amp, cabinet and even mic modeling, as well as a full array of reverbs, flanges, choruses etc. And if that isn't enough, you can import 3rd party VST plug-ins too!

This is a pretty serious plug-in. The only down side I can see, is the incredibly slow download speed from the Yellow Tools website - over an hour just for the application, not to start on the 2GB free sample banks.

Free Yellowtools Sampler

You wait for ages, then loads of these things come along at once!...

After NI gave away the Kontakt Player, Yellowtools are giving away their Independence Free sampler, along with a 2GB sample library (so be prepared for a long download!). It comes in VST, AU, RTAS and stand-alone formats, for both Mac and PC.

It allows up to 25 samples to be imported, and has pitch-shifting and time-stretching capabilities. It even allows you to import VST plug-ins!

Big Mono drums

How's this to go nicely with the free Kontakt Player 3 we told you about yesterday: Analogue Drums are offering free download of their Big Mono sample pack......

Big Mono gives you samples of a Ludwig kit, with a Rogers Dynasonic snare and a mixture of Zildjen and Sabian cymbals, tracked through a 1975 Neve console, and as with all their sample packs, onto analogue tape. It'll work on Battery, Kontakt and the Logic EXS24

It's a fairly hefty 135MB download, but definitely worth it.
