All You Need Is Love!

I have been working my way through an excellent music documentary on 4OD recently....

All You Need Is Love is a documentary made in the 70's chronicling the history of popular music. It ranges from Delta Blues up to Alice Cooper. Features loads of cool footage including Cooper being hanged as part of his stage act and Jerry Lee Lewis doing all sorts of unholy things to his old Joanna..

Features lots of bad 70's shirts and is notable for featuring the legendary rock scribe Lester Bangs (as featured in the nostalgia fest Almost Famous)in the "Glitter Rock" episode where he basically says that rock has become shallow, vacuous and consumed by money and egotism...if only he had lived to see X Factor!

Les Paul documentary

I know it's about a year old, but for those of you who missed it on TV, the BBC iPlayer is still showing the Chasing Sound documentary. Worth checking out by engineers and guitarists alike.

Ever wish real life was more like the movies?

Need to add a sense of excitement and suspense to your journey to work? People not sure when to laugh at your jokes? Then what you need is sound effects, canned laughter and background music. The people have ThinkGeek have realized this, and produced a T-shirt with built-in speaker and mp3 player. Use the provided sounds, or add your own with an SD memory card.
Here it is in action:

Telstar the Movie

There's a new film about electronic music pioneer Joe Meek out on June the 19th. Best known for the instrumental hit Telstar by the Tornados (featuring George Bellamy - father of Muse's Matt Bellamy, fact fans), and for rejecting the Beatles and Rod Stewart, Joe Meek had his studio just round the corner from our Angel Campus - look for the blue plaque at 304 Holloway Road

If you've not heard Joe Meek's productions before, this is probably not the best place to start (iTunes link), with his original demo of Telstar.....
